Sheep Not Goats
Sheep Not Goats
Sheep Not Goats is a Florida non-profit corporation with tax-exempt status under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue code.  Our focus is on providing assistance to the poor in Nicaragua via income opportunities associated with a new farm in the town of Malpaisillo where our primary output is tilapia, plantains, and tomatoes.  We will use aquaponics where fish waste meets the nutritional needs of the plants.
Our Background

We've been married for 28 years.  Steve holds a BSEE from the University of Florida and worked for 25 years in the computer industry, mostly in product management and marketing.

Sandy holds a BA in Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, plus a certificate in crisis intervention from the University of Cincinnati.  She also possesses a highly unfair advantage over Steve in Spanish since she grew up in Venezuela.

We have four beautiful children: Katie, Lauren, Drew, and Hannah.
Why Nicaragua?

Because Nicaragua is the 2nd-poorest country in the western hemisphere, it made sense to us that there were surely great needs in this small Central American country.  We also learned that it's one of the safest countries in Latin America - important for the ability to drive where you need to without much worry.

In addition, we found a great church family here, first in Managua, and now in the much smaller town of Malpaisillo.  The new group has grown from 2 to over 40 in just two years!  We look forward to helping many in Malpaisillo to earn significant income from our efforts there.
